Portland In The Snow

We got over a foot and a half of snow in Portland late in December 2008, a paltry amount compared to the many feet we get high in the Cascades, but an unusual amount for the valley floor. Since I was off work for the Christmas break, I grabbed my camera and walked from my home in the Irvington neighborhood of northeast Portland across the Willamette River into downtown and then back again.

We kept the cars parked while the snow was around, which wasn’t a problem since we were off work and can walk to grocery stores and have good access to public transportation.
After taking some pictures in my neighborhood, I wandered down to the Steel Bridge and walked over to the other side of Portland.
Pioneer Square is known as Portland’s Living Room and was my primary destination as I headed downtown.
I took the Burnside Bridge back across the Willamette, mainly because I wanted a picture of the Made in Oregon sign.
