We got over a foot and a half of snow in Portland late in December 2008, a paltry amount compared to the many feet we get high in the Cascades, but an unusual amount for the valley floor. Since I was off work for the Christmas break, I grabbed my camera and walked from my home in the Irvington neighborhood of northeast Portland across the Willamette River into downtown and then back again.
| We kept the cars parked while the snow was around, which wasn’t a problem since we were off work and can walk to grocery stores and have good access to public transportation. | After taking some pictures in my neighborhood, I wandered down to the Steel Bridge and walked over to the other side of Portland. | ||
| Pioneer Square is known as Portland’s Living Room and was my primary destination as I headed downtown. | I took the Burnside Bridge back across the Willamette, mainly because I wanted a picture of the Made in Oregon sign. |
