The Little Ones

Since we've been married, my wife and I have shared our lives and our home with four cats and one dog (not all at once). Our first cat Templeton blessed us for 15 years and we adopted our second cat Scout as a kitten in May of 2001. After Templeton passed away in December of 2007, we adopted Sam and Emma a few days before Christmas. All of the cats are named after characters from literature: Templeton the rat in Charlotte’s Web, Scout Finch in To Kill A Mockingbird (my favorite book), Jane Austen’s Emma, and Sam(wise) from The Lord of the Rings. We broke with the literary names when we adopted our dog Ellie in January of 2009, a five-year old black lab mix who was known to be cat-friendly.

A heart-breaking start to the year when we lost our beloved Scout to spleen cancer.
Another fun year from the Gang of Four.
Thankfully a quiet year with no major injuries or surgeries!
We've a full house now with three cats and a dog, so hopefully there will be no visits to the Humane Society for a long while.
We adopted our dog Ellie on January 12th, bringing our little zoo to a total of three cats and a dog.
Our first full year with Sam and Emma ends with an honest-to-goodness white Christmas.
We adopted Sam and Emma on December 22nd, these pictures are of their first week with us.
Templeton passed away on December 8th, these pictures are of him and Scout during his final year.
Templeton recovers from his adventure with the sewing needle, Scout remains needle free.
A rough life of eating, sleeping, and belly rubs.
Our second year at our house in Portland.
Our first full year at our new house in Portland.
We moved to Portland halfway through the year and the cats discovered the wonders of hardwood floors.
In 2001, we lived in Keizer and started the year off with just one cat, Templeton. We added Scout to our househould in May.
A second gallery from 2001.
Scans of film pictures of Templeton from 2000 and earlier.
